Magazine Spread

I created a conceptual spread for a magazine titled “Spit Magazine”. This magazine took inspiration from alternative music magazines from the 90s, and focuses on the shoegaze rock genre. I used photoshop to mask and clean the image of Miki Berenyi before embedding her onto the center of the first page. I contrasted the page with the word “shoegaze” to add dimension and make it more interesting to the eye.
I then duplicated and layered the text on top of each other to provide a shadow effect that visually mimics the “wall of sound” production the genre is known for.

The second page of the spread showcases a design discussing different albums and bands of the shoegaze genre. I used Adobe InDesign to create the various shapes on the background of the page in order to replicate the quirkiness of this music era. I embedded high resolution images of different bands wrapped the text around the images for legibility and flow.
